New Film Announcement

They say the fastest way to manifest something is to let it go.

The last time I checked in with you about film-making I felt like I was creatively underwater. Not able to organize my thoughts and work clearly towards a goal I decided to stop moving against the current and put my film idea about the financial contribution of caregivers back on the shelf in my office.

But believing that everything will work out for your highest good is a nice way to keep it moving when things don’t work out. And I’ve tried to hold that idea close to my heart while I’ve been working on my new spiritual beliefs as a developing medium.

I’ve been doing more tarot, more meditation, more walks in nature, and more self-discovery. I’ve been reading books about magick and listening to podcasts about witches, and lately I’ve become obsessed with feminism in spirituality or the lack-of-it.

In the same way Dream, Girl asked the question - where are all the women entrepreneurs? I have been asking myself where are all the women in religion? Am I limiting my own spiritual growth if I can’t see myself (as a woman) in a divine role? Growing up Catholic with men in all the pivotal leadership roles, I’ve always felt a sense of “other.” So I started digging, researching, and expanding my views of what spirituality could look like if women weren’t just included, they were the experts.

Then I got out of my camera and I started shooting.

I felt drawn to women who were interested in expanding spirituality outside of religious norms and were making their own rituals. I filmed gardeners, sound bath musicians, psychic mediums, mothers, and mushroom farmers.

I was deeply inspired by Meggan Watterson’s book “Mary Magdalene Revealed” and started having meaningful conversations about the potential of the Catholic Church and other religious institutions with my friend Patrick Carolan a writer, Catholic Activist, and an organizer for Vote Common Good.

While this is just the first chapter for the story of this new film, the seed is growing like a weed and I’m watering her daily.

Expect more updates from me in the future including a link to the documentary’s trailer. Want to see it first? Subscribe to my Substack here.

With love,

Erin
