Casting a Spell for 2020

In my family Aunt Chrissy is known as the “white witch.” If you need a little help connecting to the universe you can call on her to get out her spell book, light a few candles, and hopefully help you move things along in your life. 

To my surprise, last year she told me she did a spell so that Ginny Rose would have brown hair and green eyes. This is something I would have liked to have been consulted on, but now that my daughter has brown hair and green eyes, they are features that actually suit her personality beautifully. 

I’ve always loved the idea of creating a direct line to the universe for help. I’m a true believer that sometimes we need to speak it into existence in order to magnetize it. So this year, I sat down, lit my Cher candle, and wrote my own spell for you for 2020.

Here we go:

I hope 2020 is the start of something special. 

I hope you’re overcome with inspiration and you take out a pen and furiously explore your wildest ambitions on the page. I hope today is the day you start to take yourself seriously and prepare yourself accordingly to unleash your incredible talent into the world. 

I hope you take care of yourself- mind, body, and soul and explore new and more meaningful avenues of self-care. 

I hope this is the year you fall in love with yourself. 

You take yourself out to dinner, to the movies, or have a cozy night at home alone. I hope this year, you feel at home in your body. That you make yourself laugh and you acknowledge the power and prestige of being you. That you put your shoulders back as your approach a new opportunity. You are a ball of glowing light, and you're ready to shine. 

I hope you dream, and wish, and manifest beyond your wildest imagination. 

That you think of ideas that scare you, make you tremble, and keep you up at night. But you hold those dreams closest knowing they are your true destiny. 

I hope when you make the life changing decision to walk towards those dreams every obstacle you imagined would be waiting for you folds easily and effortlessly like a flower folding in a field. Know these dreams are your birthright and it’s up to you to walk towards them boldly.

I hope you explore and critically examine ever narrative you create that holds you back. That you sort through the lies you tell yourself to find the glaring truth. That you don't dismiss your fears but know they too are part of your journey. Knowing that with this critical eye on your mind you can now trust yourself like never before.

I hope you invest in your relationships, make time for those you love, and open your heart to new connections. That you understand the world is built on our care for each other, and that includes reaching out when you need it. 

But most of all I hope you restlessly seek joy. The world is chalk full of enriching, engaging, and downright glorious moments that are yours for the taking. Surrender yourself fully to this crazy journey and know you are never, ever alone in your quest.

I hope you know how precious and wonderful you are- my heart lights up to have you in my life and as part of my journey. Know you're an irreplaceable part of my world, and this year was made just for us.
