Casting a Spell for 2020

I hope this is the year you fall in love with yourself. You take yourself out to dinner, to the movies, or have a cozy night at home alone. I hope this year, you feel at home in your body. That you make yourself laugh and you acknowledge the power and prestige of being you. That you put your shoulders back as your approach a new opportunity. You are a ball of glowing light, and you're ready to shine.

Finding "My One" & Confidence in Morocco

I feel like this past year of being a new parent as been so transitional, and everything feels like it’s hanging on by a thread. But while I was away something unexpected happened, I was able to fully and completely be myself for the first time in 11 months. I ate breakfast at a table. I did my hair and makeup in the morning. I meditated in my hotel room at night.

I was able to breathe.

Low Bridge, Everybody Down

Even though my mom jokes that I wasn’t interested in holding him as a baby, once I got used to the idea of him being around, Tyler became one of my best friends. Moving around every couple of years as an army brat T-bone and I would spend our summers together.

Last Summer’s Testimony, This Year’s Law

At the last job I worked at before I started my Dream, Girl journey I was being sexually harassed by my boss, and didn’t have the courage or legal rights to do anything about it.

However, after traveling around the world the last five years with Dream, Girl and hearing your stories I feel more motivated than ever to make the workplace a safer and more inspiring place to be. When Muse Becomes Maker

Earlier this month, Diana and I saw Elizabeth Gilbert talk about her new novel, City of Girls in Brooklyn.

What the Real Housewives Taught Me About Forgiveness

In our ever-divided and politically polarized world we’ve become obsessed with things being black and white. You’re either on the right or wrong side of history. And while that might be true in the Trump era, more often than not, relationships tend to exist in the grey.

The Magic of a New Beginning

On my first Mother’s Day Ginny Rose, Sal, and I went out to breakfast, talked about Ginny’s birth story, and are lounging all day in our pjs as the rain falls outside on this blustery Brooklyn afternoon. While Sal is teaching Mini how to make nachos, I’m reflecting on the amazing trip I had in Boston this week.

My $20K Mistake

Last summer I paid off $20K worth of debt.

As an entrepreneur, sometimes it’s your job to do the impossible. Sometimes you can raise $100K in Kickstarter in 30 days and other times that firebrand attitude can leave you drowning in debt and totally delusional.

Something I Don't Get About Women

My motherhood struggle and journey isn’t unique. It’s something women do, keep doing, and have been doing for centuries. But something I can’t quite understand after experiencing becoming a mom is how our culture keeps viewing the white male as the cultural touchstone of confidence.
